THE MODERN Age OF Adventure Travel by Costas Christ Photography by Bharat Shah and Vipul Kabaria
This quote, which I stumbled upon as a youngster in the writings of the 19th-century adventure traveler Sir Richard Burton, inspired me to go out and explore the world. But when I was finally old enough to set out on my first trip, an unexpected sense of disappointment came over me: I realized that I was too late.
I believed the age of true exploration was over, that I had missed it. “If only I had been born a hundred years ago, when travel really was an adventure,” I thought. Possessed with this nagging feeling that I could never be a true adventurer, I nevertheless set off to see the world.
